Tanglin Halt Food Centre

It’s funny how life brings us back to the same places time and time again. I used to live in Tanglin Halt in 2004. My best friend bought his own place a few years back and it ended up being the same block I was staying at.

We’ve been visiting Tanglin Halt a lot and the food centre (I still prefer calling it an hawker centre) has just been renovated with quite a few new stalls opening up alongside old ones from before the upgrading.

Coming back here to eat so often, I figured I’d take a few pictures of stalls that have relatively long queues and share what @robingo thinks about the food.

His favourite stall is the dessert stall which a very hardworking and nice auntie owns. The amazing thing is that most desserts go for SG$1 and she does not charge additional if you want to pack dessert back! There’s always a queue and she does close early (around 5plus) sometimes. Seems she was open later during this Sunday we visited.

I had a craving for fishball noodles and half considered not being vegetarian tonight but got a frown from my best friend so we are vegetarian. The fishball noodles stall has a queue and it can take while for you to make your way to the front. Robin Goh’s verdict of this place is that it’s not bad.

The stall that deserves the most attention is this Western Food Stall who’s lines were up to 10 people long! Mr Goh concurs with the rest of the people queuing that this stall is really worth lining up for.
