Period Of Readjustment

by JermynToh on 31 August, 2009

A couple of people sent messages through different channels to ask about the lack of blog posts over the last two months. Thanks for reaching out to me. Really glad to know there are those of you who look forward to these entries. The badgering for my next post and words of encouragement were a balm during my period of introspection.

It has been a period of adjustment after the Pular Besar trip I went on with Robin, Raymond and Clement. Being in a place where the rat race, pressures of life, all kinds of commitments and technology is left behind made me reassess my priorities and question what life is all about again.

We go through periods in our lives where things seem a little out of sorts. This may be from life’s curve balls, an overdone routine or the constant amount of work stress you have to deal with. Add to that other factors like the current global recession, the circus that is politics in some of our countries, friends or loved ones falling sick; these can all wear a person down and make him pause for a moment to take stock and reset priorities before moving ahead again.

I wrote earlier this year about finding a balance in life and my recent ponderings have led me to reassess that.

Balance is when you strike a point of equilibrium between a number of things and although that sounds theoretically like a good thing to do, it assumes you know what to balance.Life is not just about balance but about ensuring the different intricate parts of your life are tended to so your soul doesn’t crave for bits its missed out on.

My journey thus far has led me to discover these areas of life that need tending:
- work: does this define us, does this drive us, or is it just a means to earn a living, is what we do making a difference somehow somewhere
- play: how are we satisfying the child that is inside all of us, what do we do that makes us laugh,
- growth: are we the same with the passing of seasons, is there something new we’ve learnt or experienced
- relationships: who are the people that support and help us weather things, are we opening ourselves to new ones which could bring new lessons, perspectives and support
- spirituality: i was recently told by a seer that i am a very spiritual person and that surprised me as I don’t believe in any religion in particular. my questionings and inner searches have led me to believe that there is a central spirit of the universe and i’ve been reaching out to that, trying to change my person/vibration so that it’s a happier and more thankful one so I guess that’s probably what she’s referring to.
- meaning: what have we done that adds to the greater scheme of things, have we helped someone, have we made a change, have we made the world a slightly better place

I’ll go further into detail in future posts but I the following lyrics sum up the conclusions I’ve come to.

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
