Taking Back Control Of Your Life

by JermynToh on 14 December, 2008

As we grow up, we end up taking on a lot of responsibility and doing things that slowly take away the control we have over our life. We gradually find ourselves in a situation where we’re not sure if we are entirely happy with our job.

I remember a couple of years ago, I’d jump out of bed with loads of energy as I looked forward to the day or week ahead. Somewhere along the way, that feeling got replaced with one that is mixed. I’m not sure if I look forward to the work week but I know there are activities that energise me or get me all excited and there are tasks I dread and procrastinate doing.

After watching Oprah, I logged on to http://www.oprah.com/workshop and watched Marcus Buckingham’s workshop on gaining control of your career and life.

This made me realised how I’ve taken on work and perspectives that have started to drain me.

Highly recommended for anyone who dreads going to work or is not happy with what they do. Its really empowering to go work through what your strengths are, which activities strengthen you and which drain & weaken you. The workshop also helps you think about shifting what you do so that you gradually get back control over your life.

End result and goal is so you’ll be happy and energised about life.

In this digital age, things are changing around us so quickly and the demands are sometimes exacting. It helps to take a moment now and then to recalibrate our bearings, our perspectives and our selves so we don’t loose sight of our own happiness and sense of being.
