The relentless rising cost of living in Singapore

I was just reading this blog and seeing all the different price hikes & increases through the years … I thought … wow … its getting to be damn expensive to live in Singapore.

Having been in Malaysia for 3 years, I take for granted now how inexpensive it is to live happily and well here. We can still get a damn good plate of char kway teow for RM4 and internet access is great at a monthly rate of RM88.

Given the way things are going, it just might make more sense for me to spend less time in Singapore and to get my parents to spend more time with me here in KL (when they come back to Asia) coz we seem to be better able to stretched the value of our money outside of Singapore.

The quality of life that we can get for our $$$ is higher here.

I can almost imagine Singapore becoming a city that’s too expensive to go back to. Go there only when necessary.

Sigh …

if you go out to the smaller villages you can still get a plate of char kway teow at RM2.00

RM4 is KL city centre price.

if you factor in all the other things like cost of transport, cost of housing and cost of goods … it works out to cheaper. the average income in Malaysia is below RM2,000

Is RM 4 for a plate of char kway teow considered cheap by Malaysians? Or is it the SG exchange rate that makes it seem relatively cheaper as compared to SG?
