Freeze for World Earth Day – 8pm 20 April

by JermynToh on 17 April, 2008

Those of you who’re interested to take part in the next KL Freeze, visit the links below for more details.

Why Freeze for World Earth Day?

The average person globally uses 2255 Watts of power, or a little less than 23 x100 Watt light bulbs. (www.wattzon.org)

Now that’s a lot of power to be wasting. Imagine if we could Freeze the daily activities of as many people as we can for 5 minutes. That’s a looooottt of power we’re saving for the future generations.

No problems. It’s the weather. hahaha! j/k.

yeah it is hard. That’s why I opted not to participate. Knowing my clown self, I would’ve burst into laughter barely into the first minute of freezing!

Indifference is worse than action or inaction, I heard. hehe

got it …. sorry for the harsh response. just a bone i have to pick coz i get a lot of frens who seem very quick to put down these efforts by people who really are remarkable in this day and age of apathy.

non-punctuality is something very malaysian la … and moving during a freeze … i keep reading in blogs how difficult most participants found to freeze for so long … so i guess its harder than it looks

no no, the waste of energy is that, while people freezed, electronic gadgets which consumes electricity were utilized more than usual – which is an irony to the message of saving energy, if you get what I mean. haha! I was just pulling ur leg, or attempting to. Don’t take it too harshly.

Of course I know what the message is about. I minored in environmental engineering. Just that I thought some lacked professionalism when participating (reports of non-punctuality and moving during freeze) that’s all. Whether they even understood/knew the message is a different thing altogether. =)

I’m glad you played a part in saving the environment!

dude …. can u be more positive when you reply things? i noticed every comment u leave seems to come from a fault finding perspective

these people made an effort to come together to show solidarity and support for the environment. does it matter that they made some faux pas?

if you’ve made similar efforts to much better success then i say u have the right to find fault with what they,ve done.

their objective was to get people aware about World Environment Day and through their actions they got press coverage and people who were at sunway pyramid thinking about the environment. it is also a show of people power … malaysians coming together to do something. That is admirable above all else.

they invested their time and energy to come together to do this.

that deserves more respect than what you’re according when you use phrases like “waste of energy”

ooo, did u go?

I loved the NY and UK one. I felt that KL screwed it up with many faux pas. Big turned out though.

Giving it some (anal) thought, when they freezed everyone took out their cameras for recording and initiated all the security alerts and what not – which is a waste of energy. How ironic?
