So the intern whom I agreed to take in as a favour since he’s someone I knew … came to me and said he wanted to stop coming in coz it was too inconvenient to travel to work from his house given the distance.
I said tell me the real reason and all he could do was fumble and say its really inconvenient.
After I tell him to close the door and probe more, he says “this is not what I signed up for … I just wanna give ideas … you know .. from a creative perspective and not have to copywrite”.
I ask if he’s able to manipulate design or art direct since he doesn’t have those skill sets and then he says … I can give ideas to strategy. I asked how that can happen if he hasn’t worked through the ranks of account servicing yet and how he expected clients to react to an intern telling them how to plan and roll out initiatives.
He then proceed to insult our copywriter saying “I have education to back me up but he’s got no education at all.”
I should have just told him to fuck off from my office at that point rather than try and make him see that he was living in a world of his own and refusing to see any other person’s perspective but his own.
All he did was argue back and say I just wanna give ideas even though I pointed out that there was no such role in an agency … he was asking for a role to be created for him just because that’s what he wanted to do.
I don’t even know why i bother giving people like him a chance or why I invest any energy in trying to make them see what its really like in the working world. I should have been like any other person, been a fucking bitch and kicked him out the first few days when he u insulted me and the people he was working with through his feedback to work that was on-going.
If you don’t have the guts to articulate the reason as to why you wanted to stop your internship,
…. if you don’t have the courtesy to respect people who’ve been working longer than you in the industry,
…. if you only know how to argue with everything that’s tabled and insist your perspective is better than anyone else’s just because
then i say good luck in your attempts to find an employer who is gonna bother to hire you and people who will put up with you.
WAH LIAO EH … what a waste of time and space!

No matter how smart he is, but if he has bad attitude and can’t get along with your staff… no point hiring him. On the long run, it will only affect the moral of the other staff. What’s the point!!
it’s okay, jerm. if he refuses to learn and still hang on to this naive train of thought, he will not go far in life, no matter which company he goes to.
