New Toy

by JermynToh on 11 October, 2007

My O2 died … refuses to start up no matter what I do. Its been acting up recently but I didn’t think much of it since i don’t usually use the PDA to make calls.

when it died and i cudn’t keep track of my meetings and schedules … i got irritated and headed down to Low Yatt. Being without a PDA is excrutiating. I was thinking of getting a simple PDA to replace the O2 since I still really like my Sony Ericsson w810i.

Chatting with my HTC client, she recommended either this or the Titan which has a slideout keyboard, a screen that tilts, GPS so maps can run on it and is 3.5G ready … but I thought it was a bit of an overkill. If I added a RM1K I cud have gotten an iMac so I thought better of getting the Titan.

So I got the HTC Touch in green … and instead of being my secondary phone … its now my primary phone!

Its LOVELY!!! Its so slim … its so sexy … its so techy … it keeps me connected and organised!!

Connects via WiFi and GPRS to the internet … I’m on MSN all the time, check work emails on the go and surf webpages like normal as the Touch screen functions like the iPhone .. you can use ur fingers to scroll left right or up and down!!

I love the way it displays contacts / SMSes / incoming calls and when I Sync it with my Mac … the sync software even keeps tracks of my SMS message trails. So fun!!!

the GPRS doesn’t prompt … it just connects … guess so long as there’s no transfer of bytes no problem coz no charges

the WiFi is smart … everytime there’s a network nearby .. it just asks if i wanna connect to it

Hmm, I’m sure other people have noted such problems. There should be solutions to that? Are there any settings to connect only when in use? Like how we can set that option in Outlook Express.

Or does it keep prompting you to connect irritatingly?

its using windows mobile 6 … i realise that the HTC touch seems to have software that makes it different … so i actually really like the interface they’ve come up with … especially the huge clock!

the only thing i find irritating is Windows Live keeps always wanting to connect to the internet even when i’m not actively using MSN or surfing …. and i’m worried about escalating phone charges coz of the GPRS fees … oh well … i’ll know end of this month lor.

u have seen people opening up their new toys on the mrt and play with it. i thought the phone looked great (plus it was in black!) and it’s a good size fit on the palm of the hand. aaaand, i think it looks much better than o2 or other pda phones in terms of design. this is sleek and looks professional.

how’s the software?

gotta wait until the time when i need a phone like this.. :)
