When my parents were visiting, we were walking around a flea marketing in Penang and we saw an antique radio I was keen to get for my place in KL. However the price was rather high and we weren’t even sure if it was working so I decided against it.
Daddy apparently has been visiting antique & 2nd-hand shops around Vancouver and he found a radio that looked like the one I wanted at a fraction of the cost and it works!! I can’t wait for them to bring it over the next time they visit!

Songkran this time round was a lot crazier along Silom Road. Usually we could avoid getting too wet by walking on the other side of Silom but this year … both side were lined with people armed with lots of water guns, cold water & rice flour.
Each time we ventured out … I had to change my clothes completely as we returned to the hotel soaking wet. One day … even the hotel staff were standing outside with buckets and wide grins on their faces.
Conclusion Ryan came to: don’t walk too close Jermyn … coz a blonde Asian is just asking to be thrown water at / powdered with rice flour.
Anyway … it was a wonderful trip and I still had 3 shirts i didn’t wear after all the wetness & madness.
Managed to keep to my resolution of keeping my shirt on for most of the parties and I was relatively well-behaved
… relatively.

Video recorded from my phone of 2nd party:
The parties were good … 2nd nite especially … was nice to hang out with old frens and meet new frens.
Now …. Bangkok again in July … or Sept for the Bangkok Tennis Open … maybe Taipei to in June or July

plus my dad is a genius at eletrical things and all .. he’ll figure it out and sort things such that all i need to do is plug it into the wall and turn it on
u know … i did learn all my technical / computer know-how from someone u know
how else do u think i learnt how to fix up computer and be tech-support for u when i was still in the dark ages of the Windows world
After 2 years in KL hon…I am sure you know more eating places than I do
“)
get a step-down (current converter) honey…. you can get them at any electronic shop….

on a side note, will that radio be able to work here … don’t they operate on 12V power in north america … and we are 220V here right?
i look back at the 80s and i cringe … wat’s there to collect that you’d want to be reminded of:
- bad hair?
- bad electronic music?
- shoulder pads?
- luminous tops / socks/ belts?
argh …. i rather collect things that remind me of my grandma’s house .. those things are more pleasant
you’re not THAT old … anyway, shouldn’t we be collecting 80s stuff then?
as u age … u tend to start collecting things that remind you of the past … i just through an antique radio might look nice on top of this wooden chest i have.
maybe one of my bedrooms can be done up with a old / 60s-70s feel
yeah … it was fun …. and it was nice to spend more than passing moments with u during the 2nd party
we must do weekend lunch thing again when u’re back in KL …. now i can bring u to some places i know which i bet you’ve never been before since i doubt u venture very much beond PJ
why do you want an antique radio?
It was fun wasnt it? esp the second party! yup I got wet most of the time this time around! haha
Recovery time…..
