taipei update part 2

Penning this down so I don’t forget …. I think Taipei is amazing cause of;

…. THE PEOPLE
The thing i noticed about the people of taipei is how amazingly meticulous, conscientious and socially conscious they are.

Maybe its just we were lucky to meet some hard workers but even the aunty packing bread at the bakery would pick up every raisin that had dropped off my raisin bun to put into my plastic bag. Even the taxi drivers apologised if they missed the place there were supposed to drop us off at and refused to take the extra metered fare (this happened twice). Hotel cleaning staff made sure even the envelopes I used were replenished everyday and that there was a lighter always next to the ashtray in my room. And this was a 3 star boutique hotel!!!

And everyone is really so polite and helpful. Most everywhere practises recycling as you carry your own plastic bags for grocery shopping. Us tourists were the only ones who kept having to pay $1 for plastic bags to hold stuff we bought.

… THE FENG SHUI
Maybe I’m wrong but my fren and I noticed that the city streets seemed to be aligned north south & east west. It was amazing!! We were just thinking how easy it would be to feng shui your home or office.

It seemed the streets went on and on in perfectly straight lines.

Maybe that’s why the energy of the place is so amazing.

… THE GUYS
They are really so cute. Fair and smooth and simple. There’s also a lyrical charm to the way they speak mandarin. I can’t really speak Chinese but most guys I met made an effort to engage me in conversation and to make me feel welcome. hehehe … I guess that’s how i ended up speaking with this guy i met for 30 mins about god-knows-what!! I couldn’t even explain to him properly wat I did for a living and he didn’t seem to mind continuing the converation.

Sigh ….. its a really pity that we hardly saw the city other than the clubs where the parties were held, Taipei 101 (the tallest building there) or the areas around our hotel. Definitely looking forward to going there again during a non-party weekend so I get to do healthier and more cultural things.

    not at all la…. we remember most chinese cities that have a history of feng shui beijing might be done this way

    most cities very unusual to have their streets align perfectly north south and east west

    singapore is so NOT like that. neither is bangkok or any of the other asian cities.

    Exactly! I love their culture there. When you require of their assistance, they assist you from their hearts and when you don’t require of their assistance, they mind their own business and let you do as you please.

    I just love love love their culture.
