Sigh. Who would have thought that 2003 would end on a worse note than with which it began! How could things get any worse than SARS, the Iraq war, George W. Bush, a bad economy and all the other horrible things that happened? And yet it did, and in such a sudden and personal way for me. Christmas Eve will never be the same for me and my family again. The best thing to have come out of my mom’s death, if there is any good thing to come out of such a terrible one, is that my friends have shown me incredible love and support, for which I am eternally grateful and forever in their debt. Still, it hardly eases the pain that her absence has brought and will no doubt continue to bring. 2004 will be a year of searching and remembering and wondering and wandering. May whatever I am looking for, be found.
