When you click more options after you write an entry:
1) SECURITY LEVEL
Your journal entries can be
- Private = only u can see it
- Friends = those who u set as friends can see it
- Public = the whole world can see it
2) BACKDATE ENTRY
- can post thoughts and stuff after they’ve happened for a couple of days, which I do quite often
- great for old people like me … sometimes need to write down thoughts and things if not forget
3) CURRENT MOOD
- can select something so a smiley face will show
- there are lots to choose from!!
ADDING FRIENDS
- you have to add a friend using their log-in / user name
- they have to add u back
Then you can see each other’s posts which we all marked as [Friends] under Security Level.
To see all the posts that we allow each other to see, on the menu bar select:
Journal | Friends
CHANGING THE LOOK OF YOUR JOURNAL
The standard journal view is quite boring. Colours are a little bright too.
(I’m using Refried Paper)
To see what styles look like, on the menu bar select:
Manage | Styles | click link – Style Browser | click button – Preview
To choose different journal layouts, on the menu bar select:
Manage | Styles | click link – Modify Your Account
ADDING PICTURES
To add pictures, you need to know a little bit about HTML. Its a little complicated but what you need to do is:
a) upload ur pictures to server that the journal “pulls” the pictures off (like reference … they show u a pic from somewhere else)
(yahoo picture and geocitires don’t work … i tried … so i’m using my own personal server)
b) hit CTRL + M as you’re writing your journal entry and then put in the URL where ur picture is sitting and select image (URL example to put in is http://www.banana-factory.com/photos/anuar_03.jpg)
If that is successful, then the pictures will show. If not then you get a little tiny [x] which means picture is not showing properly or the server is blocking u from pulling the pictures.
INVITING FRIENDS
Think Live Journal is quite strict about who they let sign up as members but basically u need to give ur friends a creation code which they use to sign-up. Think u can create one after using Live Journal a week.
I’ve tried quite a few online journals and so far this one is one of the best i’ve found. Reliable too. So that’s why I paid for a yr’s subscription so I can invite my friends!! (no fun writing certain journal entries if no one reads … we can all bitch about things too here!!)
Let me know if you want to invite anyone and I can send them a creation code if you’ve run out of yours. Think i got a couple more left. The only thing is that these people will get to see our posts so don’t invite weirdos hor!!!
